* Interview with Alea Rae and Nicholas from The Good In Everyone *

Today we revisit the proto-grunge sounds of Australia’s Cosmic Psychos, featuring the fuzz-bass and vocal growl of farmer and bulldozer driver Ross Knight. The fascinating and unlikely story of the band’s adventures overseas has been documented in the film ‘Blokes You Can Trust’ [2014].

Today is our xmas special and we air a handful of Christmas-themed songs, including a super-cool track by Vancouver’s Paul Leahy (of the band Polly) called ‘Rumble on Christmas Eve Night‘.

And in the last half hour of the show we catch up once again with Alea Rae and her band, as well as Nicholas from indie-pop band The Good In Everyone. Our returning guests reflect on the year in music, especially in regard to the Vancouver scene.

* A mixed-bag of mostly Cancon *

It’s a slow-paced summer holiday edition of the show this week. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of great live studio guests ahead! We start the show off with two tracks a piece from New Zealand indie legends Graeme Downes (The Verlaines) and Dimmer, featuring Shayne Carter of the groundbreaking Straightjacket Fits.

The remainder of the show is dedicated to catching up on some fantastic new Cancon, including the brand new New Pornographers single!

* The Good In Everyone LIVE in the CiTR studio *

We’re fortunate again this week to have some enthusiastic guest performers live on air – Nicholas and Ben from new Vancouver indie band The Good In Everyone! The band takes their name from the classic Sloan single, so we begin the chat with Nick and Ben talking of their deep appreciation for the canon of Canadian rock. Most members of the Good In Everyone have played together previously in The Mercy Years, including drummer Jamison Troy, who was a previous guest on the show. Tune in to hear some acoustic tracks played live in the studio and catch the band at their EP release at the Biltmore Cabaret next friday night!

* Featuring LIVE music by High Society and David Roy Parsons as well as guest Rod Matheson of EverydayMusicTV *

The established friendships between all three of our guests on the show this week, is testament to the supportive musical climate in East Vancouver. Our first guest, Rod Matheson, has been filming 1000 songs in 1000 days and uploading them to youtube for his innovative Everyday Music project. Rod has already met and filmed a huge number of talented locals, including the members of High Society, who play four songs live in the studio today! Incidentally, Rod is a big fan of folk musician David Roy Parsons, who returns to Stranded this week to play two songs – and oldie and a new one – right at the end of our fun-packed studio gathering.
