New Zealand Month is now officially over, but not before our last first-half-of-show tribute to the quality sounds, past and present of our Kiwi musical friends. Much-loved  high energy alt-rock band Shihad’s classic The General Electric kicks off the show, followed by a Pacifier track (from Shihad’s ill-chosen name change to break the US market period) and another track from front-man Jon Toogood’s project The Adults. Then we introduce contemporary Kiwi acts Kosmetika, Being and Bernie Griffen and the Thin Men. And keep listening as we debut a track from Jess Hart‘s new record Sex and Bureaucracy, and air three tracks from the brand new Toronto-based artist Eamon McGrath‘s new record Tantrama, that was written and recorded in New Brunswick.

Yes, we have been lacking in Aussie music content of late, but that’s because it’s still New Zealand Music Month! The first half of the show is dedicated to showcasing three more classic Flying Nun Records artists introducing Wax Chattels and Blazing Shade. We also air the brand new single from Jon Toogood’s side-project The Adults, called ‘Bloodlines’ which is inspired by a Sudanese tradition known as Aghani Al-Banat, in which female musicians express resistance to patriarchy. We also air tracks from three of the nominees from the recent Indigenous Music Awards in Canada – Midnight Shine, Kristi Lane Sinclair and Snotty Nose Rez Kids.
