* The Legion Of Flying Monkeys Horn Orchestra live in the CiTR studio *

Today on the show we are joined by six members of a Vancouver institution – the highly original and remarkable band known as The Legion Of Flying Monkeys Horn Orchestra! On a fateful day in 2002 ‘Mr Fireman’ decided to create a horn from a stick of elderberry wood. He was impressed with how the horn played and this inspired him to form a band which was to be composed of local enthusiasts playing a selection of his home-made instruments.  Tossed into the mix of the band’s package is sharp social commentary in the lyrics of the band’s joyfully played and harmonized tunes.  Local Vancouverites can regularly experience the thrills of a live Legion Of Flying Monkeys show and the band has even travelled as far as Spain to spread the word.  Mr Fire Man and friends play four of their tunes live in the studio today!

* Featuring an interview with singer-songwriter Lindsey White *

This week we are joined by singer-songwriter Lindsey White, who phones all the way from her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba!  Lindsey is touring western Canada in support of her latest release ‘Renegades’, an album long in the making and inspired by hugely transformative events in her life. Such was the emotional turbulence of that period that Lindsey decided to write a companion book for the album.  Today Lindsey speaks of the origins of the record and fills us in on the valuable and fascinating service she performs teaching inner city kids music in Winnipeg.
